Tax is powerful. We all pay tax, but right now, big companies aren’t paying as much as they should in Uganda and other developing countries. Research shows that Uganda gives away harmful tax incentives and exemptions that could fund the entire health budget almost two times (African Development Bank 2009/2010).

If we collected more taxes, used the money better, prioritized public services in health, education and agriculture - and ended corruption in the public sector - it would benefit all Ugandans, especially the poor communities. It would also make the country more attractive to investors - much more than tax giveaways do.
